Foursome

Wednesday (Feb 27th 2008) marks the day that can be called "The day the drought ends". After nearly 2 weeks of FOD-filled practises and meetings, I finally played football at Bute Park with all my teammates. And what a day it is for me personally.

Normally considered a right winger in C.U.M.S FC, due to a lack of option up front, I was deployed as a makeshift striker along with my strike partner, Arief Sobri who always play as a left winger but was deployed as a makeshift striker as well. And what a change it turned out to be.

Team line-up: Derrick (GK) Jeremy (RB) Ayub (CB) Opel (CB) Hail (LB) Kuwe (RM) Ayie (DM) Adam (AM) Taufiq (LB) Arief (FC) Saiful (FC). 

We started by trying to find our rhythm. Adam and Ayie played really well in trying to win the ball from the opposition. We played like a team and it paid off. The first breakthrough came when Taufiq played a lovely ball over the defence and I just chipped the ball over the keeper. Personally, that was my first goal playing in the big field. We keep on pressing until another clever ball by Taufiq left me with acres of spaces and with some luck- and deflection off Pijan- it went in. Arief added another one with a simple tap-in after a great team passes and a pure striker instinct. The opposition managed to get one back before the half time.

Second half was another personally satisfying performance by me as I added two more to my tally for the day. I scored my first ever hat trick by hitting a free kick over the wall and into the back of the net. The fourth goal for me came when a defensive blunder left me with only the back of the net to aim and I did just that. 

Overall, I still need to improve my fitness as a whole and hope to be able to sharpen my reading on the game so I can play really well for the upcoming tournament -Warwick Games. Hopefully I will be able to achieve that and to show the people what I'm capable of. =)

Festival Of Diversity V

Indeed, as what my director said "history has been repeated". After a long long journey through pain, frustration, and hard work, I am proud to say that I am happy to be part of the team that went one step further as compared to the previous FODs. They say that FOD II was the best that Cardiff has ever produced. This year, we went not just by emulating FOD II's success but we went a step further by achieving what no other previous Malaysian Night has ever achieved - a full-house.

350 is not really a big number but we managed to pull all Cardiffians together and as a Family, we showed the world that Malaysia is truly a spectacular place and full of diversity. This is one of the few moments that people from different backgrounds come together, having a laugh while singing, dancing, acting and clapping our hands together as one. This is what Malaysia should be. I will treasure this moment for the rest of my entire. When the day comes that my children grow up, I will tell them that no matter who you are, be a Malay, Chinese, Indian or whatever, all of you are creation of God. You are equal, no one is higher than the other. Cardiff is a place where true friends are found and good times are to be enjoyed together while reaching our ultimate goal of academic success.

There are no words that can describe my feelings towards the FOD V. According to critics, FOD V may be one of the best Malaysian Night in the whole of UK for many many years. I'll leave all of you of the joy of us being in a Family. FOD V FAMILY.

I have lived my life with an iPod™ in my pocket everywhere I go. All the artists, from the famous ones e.g Michael Jackson, Muse, etc to the unknowns. But among all, I really love this one particular singer, Mia Rose,20 (born Jan 16th,1988) from Wimbledon. A naturally talented singer/songwriter and blessed with a beautiful face (dad's English, mom's Portuguese), she captures the heart of many admirers, including me myself. Her voice actually made me realise about a lot of things in life. There are more to it than just what you are seeing.

Nearing FOD V

Festival Of Diversity V

Well, I'm starting to lose my spare time to write my blog. Most of the posts are in drafts but never finished due to unforeseen circumstances and a very very hectic schedule especially the one that is looming large in front of me. Festival Of Diversity (FOD) V is to be launched this coming Saturday, Feb 23rd, 2008 at the Reardon Smith Theatre, Cardiff National Museum.

Technically, I'll be the one who'll be running around on that day. Making sure that everything goes to plan. From the start of the introduction dance till the very end, I have to remember all the coordination and the flow of action for that day. At the time of writing, I am nearing to insanity. And also, I am down with high fever but I still have to go to the practise as I will be amongst the performer that day. *sigh*...As quoted by Nadia, "Welcome to my life".

And to make things worse, last Sunday when I was having a meeting with Julie and Arief to discuss about the background music for the play, I got a call from a friend to confirm about our holiday. So I had to go back a bit early. After the holiday trip tickets has been finalised, one of them told me that they won't be able to come as the rest wanted to go to London. I was so mad at them, I just hung up and sleep.

And I couldn't care less about it. I have made something like a promise to myself, "Don't go to any of their Malaysian Night unless they are coming to mine" because I went to a friend's Malaysian Night with the promise that she'll come to mine. It cost me £25 just for the train ticket and another £15 for the performance itself. The train ride wasn't really pleasant going there and the performance was not as hype as it is on paper. And to top it all, the next day I woke up and about to make fried rice as a Thank You for letting me stay at her place, a lot of things weren't there e.g oil, onion and egg.

Anyway, that's not the point. On the way to the train station, she told me that she can't make it for my Malaysian Night due to financial constraint. I was trying so hard to control my anger at her. Honestly, I was facing financial difficulties as well but I worked as a part-time cleaner just to make ends meet. And to be treated in such way was unacceptable, especially after one has kept his side of the bargain.

Whatever it is, I just want this FOD V to be over and done with. I don't really care if none of my 'friends' is coming. I'll just do as instructed and that is as far as I can get.

Something's Wrong

Something is bothering me right now. I don't know what it is. But I just felt like something bad is going to happen. Or something that I did in the past was wrong. Like a wrong decision had been made or something.

Is it just a sub-conscious in my head? My heart is feeling quite cold. Not freezing but more like nervous in a way. Hmmm...something is definitely not right at this moment....

Something Different In Cardiff

Well well well, we meet again...As we move on with our daily life, we will be certainly be oblivious of a few things that might happen in our life, e.g earth-quake, etc. Well, on Thursday Jan 31st, I experienced something of that kind. It was a fire alarm in Cardiff Business School when I was attending my Principles Of Marketing & Strategy lecture.

It happened in somewhat a funny way. Our lecturer, Mrs. Shumaila, was halfway through her lecture when the fire alarm sounded. What made it funny was that she was talking to us about the upcoming examination in May/June later this year. "You will not fail this paper unless you make an attempt to fail the paper," she said. Right after she finishes her sentence, the alarm started blaring and all of us were laughing our heads off. But yeah, we did evacuate the building and headed towards the Julian Hodge Parking Lot.

I still remember the guard that was ushering us to the parking lot. I don't know his name but I remember him well when my house's fire alarm was triggered when Cristobal, my Spanish housemate, tried effortlessly to cook fried chicken (hahaha....) until it triggered the alarm. The guard later said that "if I find any of you lot in the house when the alarm is on, I'll make sure all of you will never live in this house ever again". And he was like, well, himself this time around. "Off the road, you lot. If you are returning to the building, then please proceed to the parking lot, if not, then go somewhere else".

It was a funny experience all around. The fire brigade came, saw, and left after 15 minutes or so. What was the cause of the alarm? I didn't even know. In fact, I didn't even bother. Nothing serious, I hope. Well, this has got to be the shortest post I've made so far because I have a class to attend to.
